Welcome back!!! I hope the students had a great winter break. We are starting a new unit on Imperialism. It will cover the US gaining more territories in the ealy 1900's, The Spanish American War, and WWI.

Tuesday Jan. 12- Introduction to Spanish American war video, and primary source on The explosion of The USS Maine ws.- due as lifework.
Wed. Jan. 13- Take class notes on the Spanish American War and continue discsuuing the USS Maine war ship. Battle WS for Lifework

Friday Jan. 15- Review assessment taken before break- discuss results and edit answers for review of material. Imperialism quiz on Monday.

I chose very carefully what I require of the students, as I know they have after school activities and a home life. Friday Nov. 6- quiz, and discuss new project for this unit. Students will receive their assignments and must chose their specific project and return Monday with that choice.

Wednesday Oct. 28- Continue to work on vocabulary study. Gilded notes on immigrants to the country during the late 1800's
Thursday Oct. 29- Take a quiz checking for vocabulary understanding, was for lifework. Read a theater production explaining the travels of immigrants to Ellis Island and Angel Island.
Friday Oct. 30- Adventure to the US game- understanding how involved it was and the requirements for entering the US in the late 1800's

We are winding down our unit 1 study that included Georgaphy, Reconstruction, and the
Westward Movement. This week we will:
Monday Oct. 19- Review for Unit 1 test ( students were given a study guide to use)
Tuesday Oct. 20- Unit 1 test
Wednesday- Friday Continue working on project- use computers to research in class for the remainder of the week. Please check with your child on their progress of the project. They have a guide for all requirements. Project due date is Monday, Oct. 26th.
