Week of May 25th:

We had our last instructional online session for the year. We reviewed  to evaluate algebraic expressions using the traditional and the desmos way.  Related practice assignments are posted on Teams -> Files-> Distance_Learning-> 0520.
Note To receive an end of the year grade bump, students must turn in  the weekly assignments posted on TEAMS including the digital activities by June 3rd.

 Week of May 18th:

We reviewed to write numbers in standard and scientific notation and to them in ascending and descending order.  Related practice assignments are posted on Teams -> Files-> Distance_Learning-> 0505.

Week of May 4th:

We reviewed how to express numbers in standard and scientific notation. You will find this weeks practice assignments including the digital activities on Teams -> Files - >Distance_Learning -> 0505. Try them out!!

Week of April 27th:

We reviewed the answers to our last week logic puzzles and part of Unit 1- Powers of 10. In TEAMS, under the "Files" tab, I have opened a folder called "DISTANCE_LEARNING", where you'll find practice materials including the digital ones to work. I highly recommend you to use your free time to complete those. Also, under the Assignments tab - I posted a survey for you to complete. I'll see you online on 5/5 .

Week of April 14th:
 
Today(4/14), we kick started the online learning. We were excited to see each other through the distance learning platform! Thanks to the advanced technology and the brilliant minds:)
We went over the online schedule and the grading guidelines for the rest of the school year. 
All NHIs /RETAKE submissions must be scanned and sent to my emaild: vembuc@pwcs.edu on/before 04/22.

Week of March 23, 2020
I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.  During this week, please be in the lookout for email(s) from Ms.McCulla and from me about the specific content -related instructions and optional assignments you could do over this unexpected school closure. 
I will be continuing to use this web page to provide instructional materials and other essential information. 

Week of March 6th:

We are getting closer to the end of this unit. On Wednesday and Thursday, we’ll be reviewing this unit and taking a unit test on Friday (03/13).

Week of March 2nd:

Students have learned to graph the additive and proportional relationships when y intercept/slope/ordered pairs are given. The IXLs to be practiced are 7-U.8, 7-V.5. Due: 03/11.

Week of 24th:

Students have learned to make connections and represent the relationship between 2 quantities using verbal descriptions, equations and tables. No new IXLs assigned. Students are working on task cards during class time to classify, sort the various representations for proportional and additive relationships.

Week of Feb 18th: We have started with Unit 5 - Proportional Reasoning(Part 2). Students are learning to find out the slope from graphs, equations, verbal descriptions, and tables. The IXLs assigned for this topic are 7-K.1, 7-K.2, 7-K.7,
7-K.8, 7-V.5. 
Due 02/26. Reach 70%

Week of Feb 10th:
We have completed Unit 4 - Proportional Reasoning(Part -1), and students have taken a Unit Test. Coming up, students will learn how to represent proportional relationships using equations and graphs.

Week of Feb 3rd: 

Students have learned to calculate the sales tax, tip and discounts for the purchases made. The IXLs to be practiced are 7-M.6,  8-K.5. Reach 70%. Due 2/6.

As a continuation of Unit 4-  Proportional Reasoning, students are learning about similar figures and how to apply the same to find the missing lengths and corresponding angles. The IXLs to be practiced are 7-X.17, 7-X.18. Due 2/12. 
The summative test for this unit is moved to 2/12.


Week of January 27th:

Students learned to apply proportional reasoning to solve practical problems including scale drawings and Unit Conversions. The IXLs to be practiced are 7-O.6, 7-J.7. Due 2/2.

Week of January 20th:
Students have to represent, solve and find out the missing proportional values. The IXLs to be practiced are : 7-J.2 through 7.J.6, 7-J.10 AND 7-J.12. Reach 70%. Due - 1/27

Week of 13th, 2020

We have completed Unit 3- Equations and InEqualities. Students had taken a summative test, and the grades goes into quarter 3 of the gradebook. Coming up, students will learn about Proportional Reasoning - Unit 4.

Week of January 06, 2020.
Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a relaxing, restful winter break!
We have started with Unit 3- Part B - 2 step Linear InEqualities. The IXLs assigned for this topic are 7-T.1 through 7-T.7 . Reach 70%. Due - 1/17. Students will have a summative unit test on 01/17.

Week of December  16th:

We have completed and reviewed 2 step linear Equations. Students will have a unit test on Thursday(12/19).


Week of December 6th:

We have learned  to solve and apply 2 step linear equations to word problems.  We learned to use the CVS(Constant, Variable, Sum) strategy to interpret the word problems, set up the equation and solve the same. Next week(12/17), students will have a Unit Test. The study guide/Review will be placed under the "Files and Documents" to review and practice.

Week of December 2nd:

Students have learned to solve 2 step  linear equations, which involves rational numbers. The IXLs to be practiced are 7-S.6, 7-S.9. We'll dig in word problems starting next week. Students will have a Unit test on 12/17.

Week of November 11th and 18th:

We have started with Unit 3 - Algebraic Reasoning(Part 2). Students have learned to translate Verbal to Algebraic Expressions and vice versa. We have started to learn how to solve 2- step linear equations and applying the same to word problems.

Week of  November 4th:

As concluding part of Unit 2 , students have learned to solve practical problems that require determining the volume/surface area of 3D shapes. The IXLs which have assigned for this unit so far are : 7-AA.7, 7-AA.8, 7-AA.10, 7-AA.13. Due 11/12. Reach 70%. UNIT TEST ON 11/13. The Unit 2 Review and key have been placed under the "Files and Documents." Make sure to practice!

Week of October 28th:

As continuing part of Unit 2 , students have been learning to find the volume and Surface Area of three dimensional objects- Rectangular Prism and Cylinder.  The IXLs which have assigned for this unit so far are : 7-AA.7, 7-AA.8. Reach 70%.


Week of October 21st:

We are steadily progressing with Unit 2 - Algebraic Applications. Students have learned to apply the "Order of Operations" to evaluate Algebraic Expressions.
Also, students are fascinated by the powerful tool - Desmos Scientific calculator, which takes the Order of Operations to whole new level. Make sure your child  uses the correct version of Desmos . Please find the link below.

Week of October 14th:


1) As part of the last objective of Unit 1, students are learning to apply integer operations to solving real life word problems involving Rational Numbers. Students will have a quiz (Formative grade) on Friday to wrap up this unit. Please check teams to look for handouts, Keys and other resources.

Week of September 16th, 2019.

1. Students have learned to order and compare the numbers in scientific notation.
2. They have also learned to find out the perfect squares of the numbers from 1 to 20 and the square roots of the numbers from 1-400. The IXLs assigned are 7-A.9,  7-I.10 (due 09/22) - Reach 70%.


Week of September 9th, 2019. 

 

  1. As part of Unit -1, Number Sense, students will learn to express very large and small numbers using scientific notation(7.1 b)
  2. Convert Standard to Scientific Notation and vice versa, order the same. Students are not allowed to use the calculator for this objective.
  3. Students are given handouts for this topic, and the same is posted on under "Files and Documents."
  4.  Quiz - Every Friday
  5. IXLs assigned: Scientific Notation: 7.A9, 7.A10 (due 09/13); Reach 70%.


Week of September 3rd, 2019. 

  1. Students completed the Pretest.
  2. We started  Unit 1 - Number Sense(7.1a) Students are learning to represent the positive and negative exponents of 10 through fractions and decimals.
  3. Students were given handouts for this topic, and is posted under "Files and Documents." 
  4. Weekly quizzes will be give every Friday, to check for students' growth and understanding. 
  5. IXL assigned: 7-I.8 (Due 09/13) - Reach 70%
  6. The next objective is "Standard and Scientific Notation."


Week of August 26th, 2019

Welcome back from Summer break!  

Classroom routines and procedures sheet will be coming home with your child this week. Please review, sign and add it to the front page of your child's Math binder.

The first week went going over schedules, classroom procedures and expectations, and getting to know our students.  

I will be using the Hub to send weekly updates as well as posting resources/ Assignments on the TEAMS.
